Patricia O. Quinn, MD President and Co-Founder
Dr. Patricia Quinn is a developmental pediatrician in the Washington,
D.C. area. A graduate of the Georgetown University Medical School,
she specializes in child development and psychopharmacology. Dr.
Quinn has worked for over 30 years in the areas of ADHD and learning
disabilities. She gives workshops nationwide and has appeared on
Lifetime TV's New Attitudes and the PBS show, To the Contrary discussing
the issue of girls and women with ADD.
Dr. Quinn is the author of several other books on ADHD. These include
the best-selling book, Putting on the Brakes: A Young People's
Guide to Understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
for children in the 8 to 12 year old group and the companion workbooks.
She has also coedited or coauthored several books on gender issues
and ADHD including, Understanding Girls with ADHD, Understanding
Women with ADHD, and Gender Issues and ADHD.
Patrick Kilcarr, Ph.D. Vice President
For the past 14 years, Dr. Kilcarr has been Director of Georgetown
University's Center for Personal Development. He received a Masters
in Marriage and Family Therapy (Systems Theory) and a Doctorate
in Developmental and Organizational Psychology through the Prestigious
Institute for Child Study: University of Maryland, College Park.
Dr. Kilcarr presents workshops both regionally and nationally on
the multiple issues affiliated with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD), Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOA) and Post-Secondary
issues related of alcohol and other drug use. Dr. Kilcarr co-authored
a critically acclaimed book with Patricia Quinn, M.D. on the relationship
that exists between fathers and their sons who have ADHD titled,
Voices from Fatherhood: Fathers, Son, and AD/HD. He has also
authored multiple book chapters and articles specifically on issues
related to ADHD.
Kathleen Nadeau, Ph.D.
Kathleen Nadeau is co-founder of NCGI and co-publisher of Advantage
Books, a specialty press that publishes books related to Attention
Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Dr. Nadeau is one of the first professionals
to focus on adult AD/HD issues, as well as one of the first professionals
to focus on the unique concerns of women and girls with AD/HD.
She is the director of Chesapeake Psychological Services of Maryland
(CPS-MD), in Silver Spring, Maryland, a clinic staffed by mental
health professionals who provide psycho-diagnostic testing to evaluate
AD/HD, learning disabilities, and related disorders. She and her
staff also provide individual, couples, group, and family therapy
focused on AD/HD and related issues.
Patricia Latham, J.D.
Patricia Latham is a partner in Latham & Latham law practice,
an arbitrator, and a mediator. She has practiced law for over 30
years and is a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia Bars
and the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. Mrs. Latham has co-authored eight
books on employment and education legal issues – including:
Learning Disabilities and the Law, Attention Deficit Disorder and
the Law, and Succeeding in the Workplace. She has contributed to
nine other published books, made numerous presentations, lectured
at Catholic University Law School, and appeared on television program
including Court TV. She serves on the Board of Directors of LDA,
the advisory Board of the GED Testing Service, and the professional
advisory board of ADDA.
E. Clarke Ross, D.P.A.
Clarke Ross currently serves as the chief executive officer of
CHADD. Dr. Ross has over 30 years of professional expertise with
five national mental health and disability organizations. His work
history includes positions as Deputy Executive Director for Public
Policy, NAMI – National Alliance for the Mentally Ill; Executive
Director, American Managed Behavioral Healthcare Association (AMBHA);
Assistant Executive Director for Federal Relations and then Deputy
Executive Director, National Association of State Mental Health
Program Directors (NASMHPD); and Director of Governmental Activities,
UCPA – United Cerebral Palsy Associations (UCPA).
He holds two masters degrees – one in history and political
science from the University of Maryland, the other in health services
administration from The George Washington University. He completed
his undergraduate studies in history and political science at the
University of Maryland. Awarded a State of Maryland Maternal and
Child Health Fellowship, Ross completed a health administration
residency at Johns Hopkins University Medical Institutions. His
doctorate is in public administration (D.P.A.) from The George Washington
University, class of 1981.
Sharon Weiss, M. Ed.
Sharon K. Weiss is a behavioral consultant in private practice
in Northern Virginia. Her areas of expertise include parent and
staff training in behavior management, specific skill training and
crisis intervention. She has worked as a teacher of special needs
children, program coordinator and supervisor of behavioral intervention
programs for behavior disordered children. She consults with private
and public schools in the Washington DC area. Ms Weiss has been
on the faculty for courses for the American Academy of Pediatrics
and has taught college courses on behavioral management. She is
co-author of the books, From Chaos to Calm: Effective Parenting
of Challenging Children with ADHD and Other Behavioral Problems
and Angry Children – Worried Parents: Seven Steps to Help
Families Manage Anger. She has also worked on the video, Managing
Oppositional Behavior.
Mary Beth Burns, Ed.D.
Mary Beth Burns, Ed.D. holds a doctorate in education from Widener
University and is an educational psychologist in Newark, Delaware.
Her practice, Educational Therapy and Associates provides assessment,
remedial tutoring, coaching, and advocacy services to children and
adults with attentional and learning difficulties. Dr Burns has
worked with special needs children and adults for almost 20 years.
Dr. Burns conducts workshops and speaks to educators throughout
the tristate area. She is also the founder and director of NCGI’s
mentoring program.
Anil Sanghera, MD
Dr Sanghera is certified to practice both Internal Medicine and
Psychiatry. She currently devotes her medical practice to the diagnosis
and treatment of attention deficit disorder in adults. She is a
consultant to several private businesses and law firms to train
executives to work effectively and efficiently. She is a medical
consultant to CHADD and the Georgetown University Center for Personal
Development. Dr. Sanghera is actively involved in education and
public awareness of commonly encountered health issues like obesity
and ADHD. This has involved appearances on several television news
programs. She was recently appointed to serve on the State Board
of Physicians. |
